The X Factor-Week 8

Last week, following the departure of teenagers John and Edward, the sixth series of The X Factor had its final 5: Lloyd Daniels, Danyl Johnson, Olly Murs, Stacey Solomon and Joe McElderry. This week, with one more having to leave, the famous four sitting in the judging panel lost their power to vote-the act to go this week to be decided solomly on the public vote. With there being many suprises already in this year’s competition, were we in for another shock this week?

This week, the final five had to sing not only the one song yet perfect two acts from some of Britain’s most well known music produce. Take That songs were first on the agenda whilst that was to be followed up by songs from Sir Elton John. Kicking of the proceedings this week was Danyl Johnson. Having sung ballads for all his previous performances before this weekend’s show Danyl wanted to step things up a bit and went with party classic, Relight My Fire. With a whole troupe of dancers in the background his performance was once again acclaimed, Louis Walsh, the only mentor without an act now, singing praises to the competetor who faced one sing-off during the course of when they had to take place.
In Danyl’s second show, he went for Elton John’s power-track, Your Song. With an already renowned hugely powerful voice Danyl showed once more what he can do and mentor Simon Cowell was not slow to jump to acclaim for the Over 25 act.

Lloyd Daniels has been winning over some hearts this series. With the hearts’ of many teenagers beating heavily over Lloyd, he hadn’t quite captured the heart of Louis Walsh, the Irishman not afraid to say why he thinks the teenager shouldn’t be in the show. For his Take That track Lloyd opted for A Million Love Songs, one of Take That’s most well-known ballads. Being mentored by Cheryl Cole this year he has had his ups and downs of late, Cheryl being in tears one week over song choice criticism. Determined not to let some bad comments get to him, unsuprisingly from Walsh, Lloyd then tried to make a stand for himself with his Sir Elton John number. I’m Still Standing the song, Louis saying only by a thread.

In last week’s sing-off John and Edward were joined, to much suprise, by Olly Murs. The Over 25, so far performing to chanting of his name post-performance, was plummeted into singing again yet, despite this, he cruised through to the next round, obviously sending Jedward home. With this shenanigins behind him Olly wanted to get back to business and with his rendition of Love Aint Here Anymore, the crowd were back to their chanting ways but judge Dannii Minogue claimed there was a lack of sparkle in the eyes. For his second performance, which was after those before him had sung for their second time, Olly jazzed things up-a complete contrast to his previous show. Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting isn’t Elton John’s most well-known hit yet it seemed to win back Dannii, the mentor to Stacey Solomon dubbing it as a knockout.

Joe McElderry was the first contestant to recieve a full house of standing ovation’s last week, Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me leaving the judges with no option but to jump to their feet, shocking Geordie Joe. With now quite a bit of pressure on him to continue on that form Could It Be Magic was the Take That tune he went for this week, once again attracting happy faces all around from the judges who, of yet, haven’t had many bad words at all to say to the contestant. Having sung an Elton John song last week, Joe couldn’t reprise his stunning show of last week, however, singing Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word, a very popular song it seemed that Joe had done it again-all four judges raising to their feet and Simon Cowell saying it was a gobsmacking performance!

Stacey Solomon ended the round 1 action for this week’s show. Rule The World was her choice of song and the last remaining girl in the competition had got her fans in awe again, not the least Dannii Minogue in delight of her acts song. It wasn’t quite the same reaction though in round 2, with Simon Cowell comparing Stacey to a wedding singer; Something About The Way You Look Tonight did not change his opinion of the Dagenham raised girl casting a shadow of doubt over the singer’s chances.

With the results then looming and no sing-off to content with, the pressure was now on as to who would make the semi-final. As the acts proceeded through one by one, Olly Murs and Lloyd Daniels were left as the last two standing-one of them would go home, one-would go through.
After eight weeks of debated performances Lloyd Daniels was the next contestant to leave The X Factor…

….The Semi-Final now approaches!
