The BBC have today announced that original Silent Witness star Amanda Burton is to return to BBC One, to take up a role in the hit-show Waterloo Road, which currently has two more seasons commisioned.
It is believed that Burton will come into the cast in Series 6, as she is to become the head teacher of the school. It was announced earlier this year that current ‘headmistress’ Eva Pope, who plays Rachel Mason, will be leaving the cast after the new series, series 5, begins.
She will join the cast as ‘Karen Fisher’. Burton will start filming in November, in Rochdale, and will be seen in the drama next year sometime.
She had the following to say about her appointment; “I’m very excited to join Waterloo Road which is such a well-known and well-loved series. I can’t wait to get started on the programme and am very much looking forward to my first day on set with the cast and crew.”
New cast for the next series (Series 5) include Strictly Come Dancing Winner and former Holby City actor Tom Chambers, taking up the role of a new teacher in the school.
